Jonathan Noel's latest release
Jonathan Noel is an alternative rock artist, rooted in classic rock influences and shaped by modern alternative energy. Jonathan’s music balances grit and melody, delivering songs that feel personal and exciting. Influenced by artists and bands like Bryan Adams, Big Wreck, U2, Stone Temple Pilots, and Audioslave, Jonathan Noel has carved out a unique sound within the alternative rock genre.
Jonathan Noel’s music fits under the rock genre while sometimes feeling more pop-rock and sometimes more heavy. The commonality between the songs is a catchy hook with riffs that stick in your head and interesting subject matter and melody. Jonathan Noel draws influence from many artists from the 80s and 90s. This combined with a modern production style and current sonic quality is something to be heard. Jonathan Noel’s music is very unique and powerful. Some songs are very serious, like his song "How Do I Live?" exploring a personal viewpoint on mental health issues and depression. On the other hand, some songs that Jonathan writes are just feel-good songs like “Girl From Ontario," a song that makes you want to grab a drink and dance.
Music has always been in Jonathan’s life. U2 was the first band he fell in love with around the age of five. Jonathan started as a drummer around the same time he discovered U2. Larry Mullen Jr. was Jonathan’s biggest inspiration and musical hero for the formative years of his music career. Jonathan started playing guitar at ten years old and instantly found a new purpose and joy in life. Jonathan’s first performance was at the Flamborough Centre Talent Show when he was in grade four. The song of choice was "Enter Sandman" by Metallica after a bit over a year of playing guitar. Jonathan was hooked after that performance and knew that was what he wanted to do with his life. As he grew older, he honed his craft and started singing at fourteen years old. Def Leppard was the reason Jonathan started singing. That massive, anthemic rock vocal sound was so appealing for a young rock fan. This is also around the time Jonathan started writing songs in his bedroom. Jonathan played in a few bands in high school and then realized that the artist path was for him more than playing in a band. Before high school was over, Jonathan applied to Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, and was accepted. Over the summer between the first year and second year of college, Jonathan recruited bandmates to play shows with. Starting to play with a band really shaped Jonathan’s sound for the better and elevated live shows to a professional level.
Jonathan Noel has received awards for artistry and production in the two years of Music Industry Arts along with releasing five singles and an EP. Since the start of Music Industry Arts, Jonathan has been gigging with his band consistently.
